About Katie Pearson

Before having babies Katie was a finish carpenter.  She graduated from the North Bennett Street School in Boston, Massachusetts, which is the oldest trade school in America.  Upon graduating she worked for the Thoughforms corporation which specializes in architecturally unique houses.  She moved on to Los Angeles, California where she continued to work as a carpenter.  She had the privilege of being one of only two finish carpenters on many projects of an up and coming architect in the Los Angeles area.

Feeling the baby vibe, she and her husband moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan.  Shortly after having her babies she started to sew and quilt.  This was a stress reliever, and allowed her to be home with her newborn twins.  She started to experiment with dying and painting her own fabrics.

Flash forward to now, and two more babies later she has created K. Pearson Fiber Arts.  Katie dyes and paints all of her own fabrics.  She uses many techniques to dye and paint  a few of which are sun printing, and salt dying.  Every piece that Katie makes whether it is a wall quilt down to a greeting card is a one-of-a-kind that is entirely made by Katie.
